Review content, access and control
Use this checklist to assign owners and collect evidence before release. Units, standards and application requirements must be confirmed by the people responsible for the product.
| Item | Check | Release evidence |
|---|---|---|
| PDF and HTML | PDF has selectable text, contents, bookmarks and working links; provide HTML when the team can maintain searchable, accessible product data. | Reading, search, keyboard and specification-copy tests in published formats. |
| Units and standards | Units are explicit and consistent; cited standards and their scope are confirmed. Do not infer compliance. | Technical source, owner and validation of published values and references. |
| Version and review | Revision identifier or date, owner, change history and clear pointer to the current version. | Approval record and destination for links to superseded versions. |
| Application datasheet | Describe use context, conditions, compatibility and limits by application when this data exists. | Specialist review; identify gaps as pending instead of guessing. |
| Structured data | Use markup that matches visible content and maintained data; avoid properties with no source. | Schema validation and comparison with the published page. |
| Site search | Search by name, code, family and application; include useful synonyms and avoid obsolete codes in results. | Queries supplied by customers, sales or service teams. |
| Tracked download | Event records file and version without collecting unnecessary data; explain data use if a form is required. | Event and file destination test plus consent/analytics configuration review. |
Maintain one source of truth
Assign data approval and identify where the team finds the current version. PDF and HTML should reflect the same product record, application and revision. To plan a catalog, see technical catalogs, product catalog development and the B2B website service.
Frequently asked questions
Does a PDF replace an HTML version?
It depends on the task and the ability to maintain each format. PDF supports printing and distribution; HTML supports search and navigation when its data is kept current.
What should a download event track?
Record only what is needed to assess use, such as file and version. Personal data or a form requires a defined purpose and settings aligned with company policy.
